Interpersonal trauma exposure and cognitive development in children to age 8 years: a longitudinal study
Source: Journal of Epidemiology and Community HealthThis study examined the impact of interpersonal trauma exposure, such as domestic violence, in the first years of life on childhood cognitive functioning. The results of the study indicated that when a child is exposed to interpersonal trauma in early life, especially in the first 2 years of life, there may be adverse effects on cognitive development that persist into later childhood.
